Twitter is removing the location tagging feature on tweets that records the latitude and longitude of a user.

The 'map marker' has long since been a constituent part of the options in a tweet, but Twitter has said that "most people don’t tag their precise location in Tweets".

Users can already opt out of the location tagging through the privacy and safety options of an account settings. However, there's an interesting twist to the story in that the camera feature of Twitter will still record the precise location that a photograph was taken (unless disabled in the account settings).

Twitter still holds a degree of location based data that more advanced social media users will be aware of, but the latitude and longitude level of tweet tagging is something we're surprised to see them remove.
