Delete a Facebook post on mobile app

How to delete a Facebook post from mobile app

A recent question from someone reminded us of a very common issue that we've never addressed on this blog.

That is, how do you delete a Facebook post when you're using the mobile app on an Apple iPhone?

Millions of people use the Facebook app from the iPhone and that includes hundreds of thousands of social media administrators.

We've even heard of posts made whilst 'in transit' where an administrator from a company has gone hunting for a desktop machine to delete an erroneous post!

If you make an error on a company or brand page, the last thing you want is for it to remain visible to the world until you're next at a desktop device.

Fortunately, you don't need to.  The Facebook app now contains swipe functionality that allows you to remove a post.

However, this in itself can lead to confusion because the feature doesn't work in your News Feed.  You've got to use it on your main Profile page.

So, if you want to delete a post from the Facebook app on your mobile, do the following:

  1. Make sure you're in the main Profile page
  2. Find the post in question, and swipe from the far right to left
  3. A cross will appear in the top right corner of the post
  4. Tap the cross
  5. Confirm if you want to delete the post or just remove from your Timeline

That's all there is to it.
